9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Part 1: Foundations: Groundwork & Basic Riding

Best for:

• New horse owners

• Colts / young horses

• Horses needing consistency or confidence/problem solving

• Riders wanting a solid foundation

What we’ll cover: Groundwork & “Bomb Proofing”

• Establishing control on the ground (circle work, yielding, changing directions)

• Introducing the flag + understanding pressure/release

• Desensitizing with tarp, poles, and obstacles

important for building saftey trust, and responsiveness in day to day situations

Riding Fundamentals

• Separating the front and hind end

• One rein stop (when, why, and how)

• Tracking correctly at the walk, trot, lope (WTL)

• Beginning one-handed riding, cones

Rope & Obstacle Introduction

• Handling a rope safely from the ground

• Introducing your horse to rope movement

• Riding over logs, tarps, and obstacles

• Intro to flag work — “hooking on” basics

1:00 – 4:00 PM: Part II: Performance: Refinement & Cow Horse Concepts

Best for:

• Riders with a solid foundation

• Horses ready to progress into more advanced work

• Anyone wanting to improve feel, timing, and precision

What we’ll focus on:

Body Control & Softness

• Shoulder and hindquarter control

• Rib cage softness and body isolation

• Lead departures + transitions

• Figure 8s and counter canter

Maneuvers & Performance

• Improving stops, spins, and backups

• Counter backing + increased responsiveness

Ranch & Cow Horse Skills

• Roping off your horse

• Dragging objects with confidence

• Flag work:

– Proper positioning

– Timing on turns

-Developing a true “hook”

4:00 – 5:00 PM - Optional Add-On: Ranch Riding Pattern Practice

We’ll finish the day by putting everything together.

• Practice a real ranch riding pattern

• Patterns pulled from the Dripping Springs Ranch Park Ranch Riding Series

• Focus on execution, flow, and show preparation
